Flash,

Hey, there should be plenty of coupes around for you to take measurements for that chassis brace. And the agony associated with the creation of the cab braces will be a distant memory by then...

Bob,
If you can confirm a DE style event (Where?) I may really consider attending. This would be a long haul 2K but NM is beautiful and there is no better Spicy Grub in US.

Pete, if we can hold a Drivers Education (DE) event in conjunction with the event it will be held at Sandia Motorspeedway Park. This is a 1.7 mile Roadcourse which incorporates a 1/2 mile oval and a 1/4 mile oval with some very technical sections. Located about 11 miles west of Albuquerque it is a modern facility with very nice, clean restrooms and a snackbar. Hope to be able to include it. Bob Blackwell.

For those interested in transporting their cars from and to the East Coast:

Just spoke to Horseless Carriage and they quoted a rate of $2124 per car each way between their facility in New Jersey and Albuquerque. They indicated each transporter will hold up to 6 cars.

This sounds a little pricey ($4248 per car  ) but I am submitting a request for bid to see what they come up. Obviously the more cars we would have, the better price.

Will keep all of your posted.

there is another way to do that - you can call a private trucking company, and have them rent a car carrier - you can probably work out a MUCH better deal that way

Flash,

You mean an open car carrier vehicle like they deliver new cars? Not sure everyone wants their car exposed to the element for 3 or 4 days.

they make both and rent both - shouldn't be too tough to get ahold of an independent trucking company that hauls cross country - they do so by the load, and don't generally care what they are hauling - frequently, because of the cost of the trailers, and the desire for maximum flexibility in service, they hire the trailer they need, be it a refer, a 53, a set of doubles, or whatever

Friends just shipped their daughter's car from Philadelphia to San Diego (graduate school) - $800 one way.

I have got it marked on my calendar and may attend. I am still working out the details but I was planning on driving the 968 to Albuquerque. It would be a beautiful drive from Phoenix.

It looks like PCA Carrera Region has Arroyo Seco Raceway reserved for Sept 27-28.

Edit: Make that the SE Arizona Region http://www.arroyosec...m/dragtest.html and or http://www.arroyosec...m/scracing.html
This track has the 20th open http://www.sandiamot.../schedule.shtml

Check out article in March issue of Panorama on Escape 2008 in Albuquerque, NM (page 92). :)

Dan Dennison is the local Host for our 968 Celebration which will be held in conjunction with Escape. Registration opens on April 15 (www.escape.pca.org ). This will be our 8th 968 Celebration and the first one held outside of the East Coast and should be a lot of fun!

Hope to meet many of the 968 owners there.

Don :(

I see there is an annoucement for the PCA Escape. If we are going to the "968 Celebration" do we need to sign up for the Escape? Or is there a separate sign up for the Celebration?

Although I've had to step away from the running (or participating in) this event, I'm pretty sure it's all going to be on a single registration. That was what we had discussed when I was co-chair.

Yes, only one registration will do for both events. We have over 100 cars already registered for Escape and 17 for the 968 Celebration. The Chairman of Escape announced at our picnic yesterday that he will probably have to restrict registration for Escape to no more than 150 due to the size restraints of Event Sites. If you plan on coming to the 2008 968 Celebration, get your registration paid for before it closes. Looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones, come on out! Bob Blackwell.
