A couple of years ago I suggested a meet of 968's in the Seattle area - the problem is that I am great at suggesting such things and totally suck at anything resembling organization when it comes to making them happen (keep this in mind).

But....still think it would be a cool idea (so cool in fact maybe one happened over the past couple of years and I missed it).

So anyone up for such a meet and greet? Help get the word out? Maybe someplace like Larrabee State park just south of Bellingham (so about halfway between Seattle and Vancouver) - like in July?

Chris

Not out of the realm of possibilities but it is a 250.00 day for me with the ferry and gas costs. If I turn it into a weekend with the with I can kiss off another 300 for shopping and hotel

Sounds like it would be cool. It would be better is there were more than 3 of us.

i think daven is trying to put something together too - maybe merge everything? or have 2 events and gather people from both lists?

either way, sounds like fun

Why can't I edit my first post? I don't see where you can do that now....I am going to try to message folks who live up here so people know we are trying to put something together and gauge interest...(update: based on the members map I just spammed everyone there who hasn't already responded here)...I think these would be the basic questions to see if we can pull it off.

1. Interested?

2. Suggestion is for Larrabee State park just south of Bellingham. Does this work for you? (Seems like a fairly central location - except for Dave who really does live in the middle of nowhere . One of the day use shelter / picnic areas (there are two) have parking - supposedly 10 spaces. Note: I have not personally been there.)

3. If not - other ideas for a good location?

4. When? We can't count on the weather until July...so (based on the shelter / picnic available dates) pick all dates you could make it:

July 16
July 17
July 23
July 24
July 30
July 31
Aug 6
Aug 7
Aug 20
Aug 21
Aug 28

5. And finally - do you have a bunch of free time and want to take the lead on making this happen? Please? :D

I LOVE being the odd man out...I've been to events with 200 Porsches and mine is the only 968...usually leading the pack !!!

I'd likely be in for something like this. It's a little far out for me to know if I have something going on for one of those days but for now they're free. Saturdays work best for me so my vote would be for the 20th.

It'd certainly be fun to meet some of the other 968ers in the area.

Too bad it's not today - it's nice outside. So what I have so far:

Chris - Yes
Brian - Yes
RMalo - Yes
Tom - Yes

Jake - Yes (If Saturday)
Phil - Yes (If Sunday)
Tim - Yes (If Saturday)

Dave - Maybe...long trip.

Right now - if the suggested location is okay - there is the one group site with parking available (starting last weekend in July) 4 Sunday's (J31,A7,A21,A28) and two Saturday's (J30,A20).

As I don't want to do anything unilateral - and am not sure if "works best" might mean "can't make it otherwise" - If Jake, Phil and Tim can come to a Saturday / Sunday decision I will go ahead and make the site reservation so we can get on to more important things like figuring out the beer and party favors.

Chris

I'm only available Sunday. But if that eliminates two, so one can go, that's not fair for the others.
I work Saturdays, so I can't do a Saturday. If I could I would.
Location seems fine to me.

While Saturdays are better for me I most likely could make a Sunday meetup.

I think that location would be great.

I just checked out the Larabee State Park location on the net and realized it is along the Chuckanut Drive! That is a VERY nice location to meet up. Any 968 owner would LOVE to cruise that strip of the "old" Pacific Highway!
If it happens on a Sunday, I may be tempted... ;)
