just had a nice conversation with the shop that's been servicing the vehicle until just recently, did the 120k service on it, etc. He had nothing but good things to say about the vehicle, and said that the owner has always replaced everything they have recommended when inspecting it. Also said that the car was in there about 9 months ago, inspected from head to toe, and had everything that needed attention looked at.

Her maintenance records do confirm that.

Apparently the other person interested in the car made a "good offer" on the car... so sounds like the ball is in my court.

yes... after talking with the shop up here I'm definitely going to fore go the PPI. I've been debating it left and right after you guys looked at it, and this just sent me over the edge.

I'm waiting to hear back from the lady regarding one maintenance question, and hopefully an answer as to how much the other guy offered, and I'll be ready to put an offer on the car.

I'm not going to pay $1k over her asking price... arg

well, finally the car is mine... sadly a bit more than I wanted to pay

the other buyer made things difficult... lots of going back and forth...

in the end, she ended up asking lots of questions of me, and let the car go to whom she felt was a better match for the car. I felt like I was taking her 15 year old daughter out for the first time...

"what are your intentions for my car... will you treat her well, or just let her sit and look pretty" etc

sometime in the next couple of weeks... not sure exactly when I'm coming down yet.

I have someone around there that wants to purchase my honda, but he won't be back in town until the 8th of august. Not sure I want to wait that long if I can avoid it.

I appreciate you going and taking a look at the car for me. Anne had nothing but nice things to say about you.

Hopefully after a little TLC, the car will be a great ride.

Time to start compiling a list of all the work I want to do off the bat, mechanically at least.

Anne is super cool. Everyone clicked so well, we nearly had a group hug
( besides, 4 people hugging in the middle of the street is a common everyday scene in L.A. so now I regret we didn't - " when in Rome.." :D

if I had an impromptu 968 meet in my front yard, I'd be happy too ;)

I could tell she loved the car when she was interviewing me about it and when she told me she'd be crying when she handed the keys over

One option is to take the FlyAway bus to Van Nuys Airport (in the valley) or Union Station (wherever that is - non-native here). It's fast and easy and the fare is $4.00. That would significantly reduce the cost of cab fare.

I'm taking my car back to the shop on Monday, otherwise I would be happy to help you out.

Supershuttle also operates to/from LAX.

Just a thought, but does anyone ever wonder if other buyers might surface because of a posting such as Saxman's?

I think I found a friend that's going to pick me up, so hopefully that'll work out.

I could definitely see how my posting could work out to the advantage of another buyer, if they stumbled across this thread, especially if PPI results were posted, etc.

At the same time though, is the amount of information given by everyone else worth the risk? I think it is

in the end, any price change that resulted from the posts will be a wash in a very short period of time, and only serve to increase the emotional investment in the car as well - hopefully we did a good job of making sure there were as few unknowns as possible, and that the car has found a great new home
