After replacing the burned out bulb behind the Ambient Temp display today I confirmed what I suspected that the gauge is not showing anything.
Well, actually it shows 1 on the far left and thats it.

Does this malfunction sound like a faulty display unit, a faulty temperature sensor (located in the passenger side mirror I believe), or something else?

I know this unit is NLA, but has anyone had luck sourcing rebuilt displays?
Anybody have one for sale?

There are repair kits available from the eBay seller, Part Works DE ( used to be WPO)

The worst part is having to take off all the dash parts to get to the display,

I will find the details for the seller and post them up, the kit contains a new LCD and connector strips s new bulb and instructions takes about 2 hours to do, and make sure you test it before you put all the dash parts back

I have some pictures of when I did mine somewhere

I'm in the process of trying to fix my display so am making up a test jig ..... the link above is fine for extraction/insertion of the screen but not for electrical testing ....

The pin-out for our 968s measured at the socket is:

1 - 12v direct from the battery

2 - GND

3 - blank

4 - Outside temp sender

5 - 12v via F36 15Amp .... so if yours isn't working make sure you check this both at the fuse and at the socket pin.

6 - Outside temp sender

7 - 12v via instrument lights .... again, check this at the socket pin.

Does anyone know the value of the outside temp sender variable resistor????  ..... at the socket I measured 4kOhm at about 20C

TIA  :D

If I want to know what the outside temp is, it's pretty easy as the top is always down.

If I have to put the top up, I don't drive the car.
