I'll put this here for now - if it gets moved to the For Sale section I will have to develop a plan B. I hope it stays here so I can add to it as we go along.

My white 1992 968 is now for auction. My rules are as follows:

1. the car will be offered to whomever offers the best price by 9pm ADT on Sunday coming.

2. I will advise that person on Monday morning via PM and they will have 2 days to confirm and 5 days to send me a bank draft or just come to get the car. Otherwise, the offer goes to the second best price, etc.

3. I will update this post with all questions asked as well as the answers that I offer. Questions should be PMed to me if you don't want to have anyone know who you are. This and the item below are I why I want this post to stay here and not go to the for sale section where comments aren't allowed.

4. I will update the post twice a day with the current anonymous best price.

5. There is no reserve.

Car has about 240,000 miles. It is perfectly drivable and works very well considering its age and mileage - very well really considering ANY age and mileage ABS and cruise don't work - everything else does. I would have no concerns about driving it anywhere.

I just need to downsize a bit. I have had this car since Sept 2004. I bought it with 91,500 miles. I have spent a fortune fixing, replacing, etc. The time has come to spend no more.

Lets have some fun with this.

it has been moved, but this category, while not exactly right, is closer to being right, and allows responses, so should fit the bill.

it has also been pinned so it will stay at the top of the category

best of luck

Sorry to make the first question a seemingly stupid one, but it's for sale/auction here and not on eBay or some other site, correct?

No offense will be taken regardless of the dollar value of any offer. If I was worried about that I would have indicated a starting price.

Best price as of Tuesday morning at 7:00 am - NO OFFER RECEIVED

Do you expect bids to be in US or Canadian $$$ ?

Will you accept barter or trade? (12 chickens and a ham sandwich perhaps?)

Jay

US is fine. $US is currently a bit lower than $CDN. Doesn't really matter much in the bigger world. I have several ham sandwiches now so I don't think I need any more. And I am on a diet. But thanks for the suggestion. Cash is King.

i wish you the best of luck, but i think the biggest problem is going to be the limited audience. the car would cost too much to bring into the states, and get approved for highway use. unless being used for a track only car, that leaves a greatly reduced number of potential buyers.

i think the best route would be to put it on a consignment lot. that way, you don't have to deal with the buyers, and you still get something out of the car.

it could make for a decent parts car for somebody in either event. that would eliminate the issue of DOT approval.

would probably help to have pics and know if it was a tip or 6 speed though.

again though, best of luck

the car is actually a US car. It has a Canadian speedo and daytime running lights (which I installed) but it is US and has the CEL, etc. The US certification is on the door jamb.

It is a 6 speed. Engine was done in Oct 2010 at RS Barn.

I will take a couple of pics and post them if I can figure out how - last time they would simply not load.

I just thought that this car might best go some someone on Forums who understands what they are about and it can remain 'in the community". It likes it here.

I am hoping that it is NOT bought just for parts, as it works very well and, from reading some of the many posts here, maybe better than a lot of others!!!

I can't believe Jay had the nerve to offer you ham sandwhiches, what's the lowest price you will accept?

Enough muttering and purse-wringing. Let's get this thing on the boards and open up the bidding. I'm in for $1, and now nobody else needs to worry about offending you. ;)

It wouldn't be possible to import it here for another 20 years and my wife would kill me, but I'm in for $1000 USD

So for the sake of my marriage, someone had better out-bid me.

Not going to post a lowest price. I did that here, among other places, with no responses.

I'ld think about it but the shipping the "right" coast would cost as much as the car :(

Kim, can you clarify what, if anything would be necessary to re-import this car back to the U.S.?

I have no idea. I do know that importing cars from the US into Canada is fairly easy. But I have not done it. This car was bought in Toronto.

Does anyone here know what the logistics of a cross border transaction are? Sales tax, registration, licensing and any thing else that is necessary.
