So the dealership I work for just bought a Chrysler dealership. In their inventory was a 1986 Porsche 944, Bought new. Never titled or registered. Driven by the owners daughter on a dealer plate since new. It only has 37,000 miles. I just checked it out today. It's like a time capsule. Not a fan of the color but it's pretty cool. I might get involved in the sale of this car. Any interest here? What's a fair price? I have more photos (VIN, build tag, etc...)

Wow, look on cars.com...I'm speechless at how little these cars bring....

While the color would not be my first choice, I think this car is awesome and I wouldn't be embarrassed to drive it.

Mileage makes a big impact on the price, I would think you could get well above the average going rate. There is a 92 968 cab with 32k miles on ebay with 2 days left currently bid upto $16,700: http://cgi.ebay.com/...=item43afe5b47a it will be interesting to see what it goes for.

Ah, I know something about these. We have an 85.5 944 and a 86 944 turbo. It will not bring as much as you think. If it was a turbo - different story. I love to drive mine! The mileage won't matter as much (at least not to me) as the condition of the paint and interior. Can you give us the option codes? Perhaps the dealer ordered some "special" things for his daughter.

968 looks nice if you like tips. Is the 944 a manual? I might know someone interested.

If you think your interior bits are brittle, just wait until you try to pop a panel or a clip off *that* puppy. Even 15 years ago I couldn't touch my 944S without causing more work for myself.

I have a feeling you'll be searching long and hard but could get 8-9k. Really takes the right buyer.

I might own this by the end of the day. I really had no intentions of this when I walked into work today but it's a price I can't pass up.

That color does not look bad on the 944 body style...

Is it manual or auto? I know someone that would LOVE to have that car...

I like the color .
Only downside is the us bumpers , looks so much better in the euro style.
Nice car and the low miles , not that many around these days .

I can tell you this : I have driven my 944 for 18 years, put over 250,000 miles on it, shamelessly neglected its regular preventive maintenance , and never had a major problem with it ( just nickel and dime issues like the occasional motor mounds, a thermostat or a water pump here and there, one steering rack, one radiator, and crap like that..the only " major " item was the clutch which I replaced twice , iirc, but that was over a quarter million miles ! Bottom line : no better daily driver ( IMHO ) on this planet, especially for the price ! And yes, it handles better than our 968 .. I say go for it !

Don't own it yet. Apparently the lot manager got first dibs. He has until Monday to come up with the cash. I'm second in line with cash in hand. If I get it I plan on going through it mechanically and cosmetically and fliping it. Shouldn't need much but I didn't check for service history. Might have to do belts or something. Little tune up. Buff and wax. I'll know more Monday. The car is a 5-speed. Brown interior. Not my favorite color combo but it was the eighties. What can you say...

I own it. I'll be flipping this car after I have a chance to go through it and make sure it's in tip top shape. Kinda fun. My 968 is still on jack stands in my garage.

I need to get a car dealership. Have my kids drive 37,000 miles for free, I'm sure that would stand up in court if they had an accident <_< NOT.
