Look forward to perusing your dinner selections . I imagine the diversity of this group might make that challenging!

Jay,

Just made my hotel reservation and looking forward to seeing the 968 guys and gals who cannot make Hershey due to the Easter Holiday. I should have the other 1:43 scale 968 Turbo RS Le Man version model built, painted and decaled by then. Your last event in Newtown was fantastic, sure this one will be too!

It looks like many people are planning to come to Newtown and "Take it to the Street"...we are looking forward to a very fun and laid back weekend, meeting and reacquainting with our community of friends.

Please take a moment download and complete the attached menu for Saturday night's banquet.

I must confirm the number of attendees to the restaurant, NO LATER THAN May 14th, so please get your checks to me ASAP.
(I do not have the means to accept credit cards or PayPal, you take your chances on cash if you wish).

One form per person/$45.00 Each

Regards,

Jay

Reminder, Hotel Reservation close Friday April 15th !!!

Jay has anyone ever told you that you seem to have missed your calling in life? Of course I don't know what you do for a living, but you could be an events coordinator, party planner or even dare I say bonvivant! Nice menu. Bob

I got an E-mail from the Hotel Manager today with the number of reservations. So far, the response is far less than I would have expected.

If you are planning on coming to Newtown this is the last week that the room rate will be held.

Please make your reservations before Friday...time is getting short.

While you're at it please download and send your dinner choices.

Whether we get 2 cars or 20, we wil have a blast !!!

Jay - I just can't commit to this yet. But I really want to do it. Working out Passport stuff and still don't have one, so I need to wait another week or two I guess. If I don't sell the 968 cab I was hoping to come there a day early and have the major service done at RS Barn. Don't want to drive it now as it is due in 2000 km and that is how far it is from Bugtussle, Nova Scotia to Newtown, PA. Haven't booked that yet either. If I sell it then I would bring the other one. But it depends on the Passport thing. Also just found out today that my Cayenne needs 2 catalytic converters ($2000). Getting loud. And a new oil pan - the frequent oil changes have stripped the threads from the pan and the bolt is getting increasingly hard to put back in. So much for regular oil changes by the book - 18 changes (270,000 km) and you need a new oil pan for over $2000. Money, money, money. And the Cayman needed to be towed tonight - sure sounded to me like a broken timing belt but they haven't one. Don't know what that is yet. At least that's a warranty thing.

So - what does it all mean? It means that the only dependable car that I have is the 1992 968 coupe with 360,000 km on it !!! Go figure. But I am having fun.

I will advise once I know more. Worst case is I stay elsewhere or at the same hotel at a different rate. And eat a hamburger outside the restaurant looking in through the window at all of you !! Maybe have leftovers.

Kim,

The rate will definately change. There are other hotels in the area, but they do get booked between various Springtime events (Newtown Welcome Day is Sunday) and Sesame Place for the kiddies.

If you stand outside the restaurant, we'll toss you a morsel or two...:)

Stay in touch and we'll work it out,

Jay

Kim-

We've got a spare room at our house. Around 30 minutes from Newtown (only 16-20 miles) without a lot of traffic. A few minutes more during rush hour.

If you need a place to crash, ours is Canadian-friendly!!!! B)

Hi Folks,

Newbie needs help.

I’d like to attend either Newtown or Hershey. Which would be the better car-trading venue?

I’m looking for a nice 968 cab, and I have to sell my near-perfect black/tan 944 cab. The only thing wrong with this car is that I can’t hang Flash’s SC on it. Hence the car swapping.

(I realize I won't be doing a lot of 944 hustling at Newtown.)

Many thanks for any input,

Paul

As I said earlier, I am partial to Newtown. 1) all 968 nuts, all certifiably so, 2) near to a good repair shop, 3) Jay puts on a great venue. And, who knows, maybe at least one 968 will show up for sale!!

As for working at RS, I am CERTAIN the Pete would kick me out after about 1 minute. My repairs skills are not worthy of being given "job" status.

Paul,

Not sure that either event is "best" to purchase a 968. Most of us that would attend either event are probably not interested in selling (though $75,000 might peak my interest).

If you come to Newtown you can meet Flash and Pete from RS Barn in person.

Best choice is to attend both

Kim, you misunderstand me. I didn't say you had to work, just to use it as a ruse to get in!!

Bob

Paul,

I agree with Jay, both events are worthwhile attending. The Hershey Swap Meet will have a corral where you could sell your 944 and then purchase a 968. However, I do not know whether any 968s will be sold at the Swap Meet this year or not. I am currently planning on attending both events.

Hotel Rate has been extended to April 20th !

I let the Hotel Manager that I was out of town so she gave me a bit morte time to encourage everyone to participate.

It looks like there will be a number of folks only attending one of the days, therefore, I'm thinking about having 2 fun runs, one Saturday, one Sunday.

Thoughts?

Jay
