Anyone saying they have pix, just email or call for them is just plain sketch IMO. Plus, that car is worth much more than 35k.

i have a very hard time believing it's a real one - if it is, somebody should snatch it up, because it is indeed worth a lot more than that

they have been brought over here, and there is no requirement that it be street legal - there are plenty of loopholes around that, but i'd like to know the serial number

The last genuine Turbo S I saw, and others here I know, was advertised was for ~$160K in Germany. One before that was 50K british pounds in UK. So $35K is an incredible bargain, or just not credible.

So...why doesn't someone step up to the plate and find out? (Don't even ask why I'm not...I have no interest whatsoever in this car, irrespective of rarity.)

I emailed this guy and he sent me pics. None of the engine though.

The pics show standard 17" tires, standard hood (no air inlets) standard front bumper and rear wing. Nothing even sugesting a turbo never the less an origianl 968S from Porsche.

He just emailed me again after I requewsted a pic of the engine and mentioned that it doesnt appear to be a turbo. Here is what he had to say

I sent this e-mail, let's see if there is a response:

I'm sorry to say, but the car that is portrayed in your Craigslist ad is highly questionable.

I am an owner of the world's largest Porsche 968 specific website, 968Forums and your car came to the attentioin of our members attention as any highly valued and highly prized example of the mark would.

About the Porsche 968 Turbo S; only 14 were ever made, all were sold in Europe. Several have been imported, only as Race cars. The members of our site follow these rare examples closely and are aware of the exisitance and location of most, if not all of the 968 Turbo S cars in the world.

None of them were produced in 1995

The last 2 Porsche 968 Turbos S models that have been sold brought in between $120,000 and $160,000, if your 968 Turbo S was real, you would be asking for an amount so incredibly low, that if you can document and certify the origins of this car I would consider purchasing it sight unseen (send me the VIN for starters).

If you are mistaken, as I suspect you are, then the car is a typical 968 Coupe. In perfect condition you could expect to receive less than $20K for even the best example, and probably significantly less.

If you want any credibility at all, you should post the Option Codes, found under the carpet in the hatch area near the spare tire, and revise your ad to correct the Turbo S nomenclature.

Regards,

Jay Kravitz

Here is an interesting comparison: Porsche 944 GTR for $135,000

Fronm the sellers ad:

"Before the upgrade, it was clocked at a 0-60 of 4.7 seconds, and topped out at 180 MPH."

May I suggest that the add also include:

"Car will go 100,000 miles before the first tune up. Timing belt never needs changing. A/c blows ice cold. Parts are plentiful and easy to find. One owner, never driven in rain or high humidity."

Factory Options:

All-wheel drive w/ traction control.
Flux capacitor recently replaced.
Automatic doors

I think there is a TurboS for sale on the other side of the pond, asking price 99K euros. Sorry, but anyone that pays that kind of money for a 968, rare as it may be, must be on crack, IMHO.
