Soon to be added:

a color chart, with all interior and exterior colors, complete with pics

examples of various options

full breakdown of the stereo variations

memorabilia listing with pics of each item

updated Site Map

updated Tutorial

In addition to all of that, the various areas will get cleaned up, and some of the resource items pinned at the tops of the appropriate categories, making it easier to find things.

You'll probably start seeing things be added this weekend, and new stuff popping up almost daily.

i'll be working on a couple more threads of display stuff over the next day or two.

this weekend i'll be working on the production database. i should have something up fairly soon.

next week we'll begin the work of the software upgrade.

the member map will be the first thing up after the software upgrade. it would be really cool in the meantime if everybody who has not yet done so, went in and entered their profile info. it's secure, and nobody can see it if they aren't a member.

no worries - i've been dragging my butt on some of this, and needed to get it in gear.

this site has been and will always be the ultimate resource for the 968 Enthusiast. everything else will always pale by comparison. we have more active members, more information, more knowledge, and more fun than any other site. sure, we have personality clashes from time to time. who cares? that happens in any group. people who can't get past that kind of thing are better off not going to parties. yes, we have some rather unusual rules and restrictions, but they are for the betterment of the site and the members, and in large work very well. there are rules in every walk of life. there always will be. those who can't handle that should really seek professional help, or move to a mountain top somewhere and be alone.

in the end though, it's about the car. that's all that matters. and that's why we are all here. to that end, we will always work to maintain the most complete site out there, and continually work to update things and add things that the membership can use and from which they can benefit.

Since you brought up the software update: when posting pics with the IPad, they can appear upside down (or sideways) once uploaded. I don't know why and if the problem lies with the IOS or the forum software. To solve the issue, I have to remove the picture, rotate it in the IPad picture app and save it again. When I try to upload it again, sometimes that procedure works, sometimes I have do it all over again (a few times).

Makes any sense? Am I the only one?

Anyway, might be an issue to look at when updating, in case it's not my IPad's problem of course.

it's probably the ipad software. i have run into that before with cell phone pics and pics i have taken with the camera rotated. the ipad (and the iphone) rotates the pic so that it is seen best on the device, regardless of how it was shot. not sure if there is a setting to fix that or not. if you modify the original file though, so that it is in the orientation the ipad likes, then it will populate that way elsewhere.

Hmm, maybe I'll smash the thing against a wall and see if the problem persists... or I learn to live with it because I always shoot the pics in the same landscape orientation. :-)

Anybody else with an IPad who has the same problem?

Might as well just wait until the new 968 register goes live, so you can see all of the items that you're planning to add on here... :-)

lol - why wait? this is the ultimate 968 site. it's where everything will be. the register site will just be duplicative. i already have just about everything. i just haven't had the time to put it all up. we offered the space to host the stuff, with a dedicated area and appropriate credits given. somebody decided to take their ball and go home. no matter. we'll get it all up here, and there will be no reason for anybody to go anywhere else.

i'm cranking away on the database. it's a huge file though, and i'm putting it in a format that will be fairly easy to read, unlike anything we have seen so far, so it's going to take a while. i'm also having to make some corrections to erroneous data that is floating around out there. i have found a few cars that are outside the database as known, and will be counting those in. one of them is going to be featured here soon. supposedly the car does not exist, according to the porsche database, but i'm working on it, so i know it does, and when we're done in a few weeks, it will be up and shown here. there is another one that we'll have pis of here soon too, that is also not supposed to exist. my guess is that there are probably somewhere between 50 and 200 cars like that. i've seen at least 2 dozen in the 11 years i've been doing this.

i'm also working on the colors page, which will show examples of all of the colors of the 968s. i sure wish i could track down the copper car i almost bought, because i didn't take any pictures. it's a one of a kind from what i can tell, at least here in the states (also not supposed to exist).

still working on things. should be upgrading the software in the next couple of weeks.

awaiting approval from PCNA for some form of the database. they are not at all happy that somebody has been giving away essentially what they charge $100 per VIN for. this is making it more difficult for me to get approval. it will be a great disservice to the community if it turns out, that as a result of somebody doing exactly what we begged him not to do, we would lose what could be a great feature of this site. as it is, if PCNA agrees at all, there will now have to be lawyers involved in drafting an agreement that is satisfactory to both parties.

on a better note, i plan to work on the colors pages this weekend. i hope to have them up at the beginning of the week.

it's both pixels and file size

max pixels for an image is 1280 x 1280 (but only 300 x 300 for video)
max file size is supposed to be 250k
3 images limit per post
