My partner has 87 951 with a built LS1 and it drives amazingly well. It was done by Renegade. I am just not to sure about the SC on a stock engine but you say it's a stage 1. I will talk with you when the car gets here and make some final decisions then. I am buying the car for the color combination, manual trans W/220 more so then anything else.

the SC was designed specifically to work with the stock engine. it is deliberately limited to stay within the limits of that. there is no reason to suspect any issues, and in fact should increase engine life, as you will not be revving as much, because you develop so much more torque so much earlier.

the chassis is not designed for the torque of a V8. i know a lot of guys are running them in 944s, but unless you are prepared to basically reframe the car, they drive like crap, assuming you know what it is supposed to drive like. many people have no idea how a car should feel, so all they understand is the power. to me it feels like a cobbled together mess. it reminds me of an early vette. exhilarating when you mash the pedal, but a horrible mess to drive. it might be ok if somebody hooked up an automatic, but a manual trans just has too many problems with the torque tube. i can feel the shaft flex under load. it's all fun and giggles at the beginning, but you will quickly realize that the car just isn't civilized.

to do it right, you'll spend every bit of $35k, and still lose the character of the car in the process. i know somebody who did it, spent all the money to have it done right, and then yanked it back out of there and put back in the SC engine

there is a reason that most people end up selling those conversions.

I am glad to read what you wrote about you designed the blower not to overload the engine. Because this car you wrote has the stage 1 version, what kind of manifold pressure does it run? Do you think the hp would be around 300 if the engine is in standared condition, up about 50 or 60 hp from stock?

realize that boost pressure is a function of intake and exhaust, but to answer the question, the kit only makes 5lbs, and is permanently limited to that.

Well, I am on to look for another car. I spoke with the guy who did the PPI for the last customer that didn't buy it and the questions I asked he couldn't answer and one he didn't have a clue as to what I was talking about. That tells me that he wasn't the guy to do the PPI. I didn't like how eager the seller was in telling me things he had no record of in the later stages of the deal other then he has a stack of paperwork. I liked the car but I'm not going to take a $14k crap shoot! I've been around the twin cam cars to know a little and enough to know when to back off.

I stopped and took this car for a drive today. First time driving a supercharged 968. The power is subtle but noticeable. My tuned GTI turbo definitely has more punch but this 968 drove very well. Suspension was tight and much more responsive than my stock setup but the transaxle linkage felt looser compared to mine. I loved the exhaust note though, compared to my stocker. I'll be looking into an RS Barn exhaust for my car. AC was ice cold, interior was very well done but very very red, and definitely a faux leatherette. Overall it was a nice car. A modified car but should make a nice daily driver. Body/paint isn't perfect but presentable, maybe 7/10. 8/10 if it got a nice polish and detail.

yeah - the sc is subtle. it's not at all like a turbo. instead, it comes on smooth and early, and is very linear. no big "bang" of power all of a sudden. it's very deceiving. you don't even really notice that it's there, until you look down at the speedometer.

Back on the market. Seems that this car has been for sale for most of the last 5 years. I wonder why nobody wants to keep it for more than a few months. Could it be the gaudy red interior? Lol

it might be that when somebody sees "supercharged" they think the car is going to feel blinding fast. due to the nature of the kit, while the numbers will show that it is fast, it doesn't "feel" like it. not sure if he went stage 3 either. i'd have to do some research on that one.

but yes, the red interior is going to require somebody who really likes that.

Very true with the the six speed . With a tip however that all of a sudden " big bang" is pretty damn noticeable .
