Cool. And for all those traveling from out of state, let me go on record and say this : you guys are awesome !! So yes, we'll tolerate anything you rent ( ok, ALMOST anything.. No Prius, Leaf, Volt , or any of those tree-hugging cars :-) ). Really, THANK YOU for joining the mostly Ca gang .

It's ok, Flash is a tree hugger also, he just drives a couple of monster cars that are 180 degrees away from anything even remotely environmental-conscious :-)

"so, you're bringing the fireworks"

No, no fireworks, this is serious business. I had one of these go off on another project site. The problem being that we didn't know it was there and so we were working inside of the kill zone. When it went off the shock wave knocked us off of our feet, left us temporarily deaf and gave us all one nasty nose bleed. The worst part of the deal was having to explain to the car rental guys why most of the windows in my rented Toyota 4 runner were blown out. I make my living these days cleaning up former WWII bases in the South Pacific, mostly located on islands that were wrested from the Japanese during WWII. As such they are littered with unexploded ammunition, live and still potential fatal booby traps capable of killing the unaware, all of which, after nearly 70 years, represent a serious danger to local residents. Degrading explosives contaminate drinking water and farm land.

I am looking forward to this event and I plan on coming down Friday and stopping at a some wineries on the way down, Calera in Hollister, Michaud in the Chalone AVA and one in the Santa Lucia highlands. If anyone in the Northern California contingent wants to tag along let me know.

i think we're going to change his screen name to something like "boom boom"- lol - it makes a bit of sense that he be cleaning this stuff up. i'm guessing he helped drop a bit of it in years gone by.

back on topic

glad he's making it to the run though. this one is going to be fun. i sure hope people don't drag their butts too long in making their reservations and such. i've already got wineries asking me how many people, and at this point i have no idea.

PLEASE MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS AND BUY YOUR TICKETS EARLY!!! the only way i can plan this well is to know how many people we have.

Reservations are done but by "Buy your tickets early" I assume you mean send you 200.00 ASAP? Here comes another annoying US Postal Order!

I'm starting my top-end motor rebuild next weekend including belts, wp, rollers, front seals, etc so the riv blue coupe should be ready for this event. I'll send payment and make hotel reservations soon. Looking forward to this. :)

Although its none of my biz and I don't know your rate, you could get a boxster at a place called black and white

The drop off time doesn't seem to work at that place, leaving on the red eye. It came out to about $118 a day with unlimited miles, so it wasn't to bad.

I'm thinking the Camaro can carry all the spares, Jerry cans , tools etc. like Dakar. And if you break down you have to hitch a ride in it as punishment a la Tog Gear!
Here I go making friends again :P

ok - so, i made some changes to the order of events on saturday. we aren't going to be doing dinner at tobin james. we will do lunch there instead. it will be a simpler but diverss spread, similar to what i have done in the past, so we can get on to the tasting of the day.

then we wil be off to 2 other wineries for tasting.

at the end of the day's tasting, we will assemble for an after hours private tour and tasting, and then a fully catered dinner in the caves at eberle
