I like the look when the front black rubber bumpers are gone!
I notice that some of the forum members cars have a larger plastic lens the takes up the space the was used by the front bumpers.
Where do you get them? About how much do they cost? Installation tips and tricks?

There was a company somewhere in Europe that was talking about making clear front lenses for the 968; not the 993 substitutes. Anybody heard about that lately? The boys at 968.UK were looking into it as well

I have just posted the above reply but there seems to be a " Quote" box added.....
How did this happen...It was not intended.
Also there are various additions eg. Color,Font etc in color purple( was'nt that a great film...I cried all the way through ...but dont tell anyone ) that appear BEFORE my car's spec list.....Can any suggest a way of deleting these additions
( not the car's spec list ) or perhaps someone can do it for me ?
I am a complete Nimby when it comes to computers.
Cheers Shaun.

LOOK ...It's happenned again down below.!

Thanks Shaun! That was the company I was thinking about. I emailed back and forth with them earlier this summer. They said they would be ready by the end of July <_<

I just went to the turnclear web site in Sweden.
They have a new products link that will take you to a page that asks if you are interested in clear turnsignals for your 968 that you click on the icon that sends them an email.
If all of the interested USA 968 owners send an email, as the UK 968 owners have we might actually get them to make them!!!

Does anyone know if we can legally run clear lamps for the turnsignals?
Must they be amber lamps?
Is it state by state or Federal?

not legal in california for sure - i'd have to check the DOT spec, but i'm pretty sure it's the same - they are pretty specific about lighting specs

Check your states vehicle code for specifics. White or amber lamps ARE legal in CA on the front of the car.

Even if your state says amber, the clear lens can be equipped with an amber bulb.

FYI, I wrote them quite a while ago on 8/6/2005:

"Interested in 968 clear turnsignals that are Euro spec (no bumperette) and fit as well as original, not like the 993 lenses fit on a 968 (gaps). If available, how much?

Thanks,

Eric"

And received this reply from Joakim Jansson on 9/3/2005:

"Hello!

I hope i will get this product ready for sale within one month!!

The lenses will fit the car EXACTLY as the orginal piece. NOT like the 993 lenses!

The Turnclear made lens will also be more clear than the 993 lens.

Thank you for your patience.

Regards

Joakim"

How do the bumperettes come off? Can you just unscrew them? I know on the 993 if you want the euro look you have to get a new bumper or put filler in the holes where the bumperettes used to be...the front bumper on the 986 looks remarkably similar...

If you know please advise. I am all in if I can just remove the bumperettes and put in a clear lens.

Thanks in advance!

remove the screw that is in the turn signal lense
remove the rectangular shaped center of the bumperette by prying it out
remove the 2 nuts in the center
remove the bumperette
now you can remove the turn signal lens by pulling forward

...and the European lenses are larger, covering the area that the bumperette did.

VentoGT,

All that is available now are amber lenses.
Earlier in the post we talk about clear lenses.
If you are interested in clear, email Sweden at the address in this thread and let them know that you want units.
The more emails that they get, the faster we will see them.
