I have found a local 968 that needs alot of work and I am wonering what the consensus is on resale value of a stripped out 968 (Non-M030) that is more of an AutoX toy then a full interior street car? Also, what is the bottom price for a running 968 with around 100k?

I would say about $ 7k - $ 8k without the belts done, a bit higher with them changed recently..

A 968 needing a lot of work is a dangerous area. I would say 6-7000 is the going rate for a fair shape 968. That being said, it is very possible to get one for 4-6000, but you have to keep your eyes open and be ready to buy it quickly. The problem with 968's selling for less than 5000 is that they are worth a lot more parted. A stripped out AutoX 968 can vary in price greatly, to give an estimate is impossible due to the vast amount of possible suspension setups and the amount of the preventative maintenance completed.

If it's a good driver - grab it. If the trans and motor are shot, run away!

I must take a moment to gloat over the $500 968 I bought and then sold for $8500...:-)

For a point of reference I sold my wrecked "rolling chassis" 968 coupe for $1,500. I sold the engine for $2,500 and the transmission with torque tube for $1,800. Good luck, Bob Blackwell.

Very good info, Thanks Guys;

I am still on the fence with this one; I guess if it goes south I could just part it out. The 968 is "as is" not started for the past two years; needs full maintenance plus a clutch and front bumper/batwing (front apron)... Prob. A battery too.

I'd pass, there's no telling the extent of what a 968 like that will need replaced. I wouldn't pay more than $5k in anticipation of $5-10k more for all the maintenance that it needs.

Not paying anything close to 5k but not getting a steal like "benspeeder" above. 3-4k range.
