Welcome to 968Forums.com. We know you will enjoy your time here, and we wish to help you along the way in any way we can. Please do not hesitate to contact the Admin if you cannot figure something out, or something is not working for you the way you think it should.

If you have not done so already, please take the time to read the Forum Rules. These Rules are here to help to maintain a fun and interesting place for all of us who share the same passion for the 968.

This short tutorial will help you navigate around the site, and help you find the things for which you are looking. There is a wealth of information here, with over 6000 threads, and it may not seem obvious as to where much of it is.

Basic Layout
The site is lain out in Outline form, and is broken down into Categories, which are found on the Index page. Some Categories are further broken down into Forums, found on subsequent pages when clicked on. Some of these are then broken down into Sub-Forums, on further subsequent pages when they are clicked on. If you click on a Forum, it will take you either directly to that Forum, or to a list of Sub-Forums, if there are any. Each Category, Forum and Sub-Forum has a brief description of what is inside. Some of the names are not what you expect, but as this site is as much for fun and entertainment as it is for information archiving, the names reflect some of that accordingly.

The categories are set up based on the type of information contained in them. For example:

If you wanted to learn about a specific Repair, you would go to "REPAIR & TECHNICAL". From there you would look for the type of repair (Chassis, Drivetrain, etc.) You would then click on that. From there you would click the more specific type of repair.

There are MANY Categories, Forums, and Sub-Forums. Please take the time to cruise around and find them all. There is a huge amount of archived information here. It is all in reasonably logical locations, but you will need to look around and get familiar with it in order to find it and use it. We think you will enjoy that process as much as the interaction with the members.

Here is a Key that will show you the Categories and Sub-Categories, and where things are in the forum. Please take a minute to go through it. It will help you tremendously in finding things you are looking for, and in putting things where they belong.

Note: Anything underlined will not allow new topics. These are Categories or Sub-Categories. You must go a level beyond that to an area where new topics are allowed.

Searching
There is also a Search engine. The button for this is in the header bar. Click on that to access it. Please be aware that you are almost always better off by clicking "More Search Options". There are so many threads here that the basic search tool frequently cannot adequately do the job desired.

Lurkers and New Registrations will NOT have access to the Search function.

Posting a New Thread
Please take the time to figure out where your thread really belongs. There are a lot of categories, and it may take a couple of clicks to get to the right one. It will help us all tremendously though if you place it in the appropriate place. This will help not only you, but others who will be reading things later on. It is a very time consuming process to move threads around, and if you repeatedly fail to put things in the right place, you will hear from a Moderator about it, and they will try to help you to resolve that. There are areas that will not allow Lurkers and Newbies to post new threads.

Posts
Please do not type in all caps. That is considered yelling, and not proper Netiquette. Please take the time to type out your responses and complete your thoughts. While we are not your English teacher, if you punctuate properly as much as you can, it will help avoid misinterpretation and do a much better job of getting your points across. We all want to hear what you have to say, and we want to get it right the first time.

Please keep your posts on topic.

Please do NOT use the @ and # signs as they are used on Twitter and Facebook. It is confusing and unattractive on this site.

We do not allow links to any Internet Brands site.

You will see some things you type automatically changed. This is often for reasons of accuracy of terminology. Sometimes it is for legal or business reasons. Do not attempt to circumvent these.

Introduction (your first post)
Upon approval of your membership application, you must first post an introduction in the Introductions area, located in the 968 Forums Pub. When this post is approved by a Moderator, you will begin to gain access to the site.

Member Levels and Permissions
There are a series of member levels, each with increasing levels of access and permissions. For example, some areas of the site are not available for new thread posting or uploading to lower level members (i.e. Classified Ad posting, and some modification sections and other areas). There is a Techincal Advisor level for those in related business areas, which has all of the same posting and viewing permissions as a Member, but does not require the graduation process, thereby allowing them to help the membership more quickly, but has limited PM access, and no member profile access, so as to be fair to our paying Sponsors by not allowing behind the scenes advertising or spamming.

There are restrictions on attachments until you reach "Member" level.
The "Search" function is not available until you reach "Newbie" level.
Images are not available until you reach "Newbie" level.
Profile access is not available until you reach "Rookie" level.

Lurkers will have access to almost nothing, and allowed to post only the Introductions section. It isn't until you get to "Newbie" that you will have access to other areas, and you will still be limited. "Rookie" level sees almost all of the limitations go away. "Members" have unfettered access.

Post counts determine your level. To gain more permissions, get involved and post. The levels are "Lurker", "Newbie", "Rookie", "Member", "Enthusiast", "Fanatic", "Addict", "Lunatic" and "Psycho". Their basis in post count, is 0, 1, 3, 10, 500, 968, 2500, 5000, and 10000 respectively.

This site is all about the members. Jump in and participate. The more you do, the more access privileges you gain.

Pics, Attachments, and Avatars
Pic size for the purpose of posting here has a maximum size of 800 x 600 and 200k per image. Attachments are to be either JPEG or PDF. Avatars have a maximum size of 160 x 120 and 50k. You cannot post pics or avatars until you reach "Rookie" level. You cannot see pics until you reach "Newbie" level.

Chat Room, PMs, and Emails
There is a Chat room for those who want to have ongoing conversations that really aren't things to be archived. There are also Private Messages (PMs) that can be sent to members for those who wish to communicate off-line. Many users also provide their e-mail address in their profile. We heartily encourage this. Lurkers will not have access to this area.

Member Profile and Signature
Please take a moment to fill out your profile. This information will be very helpful to others who might be putting together an event, or are doing something in your area. We would also like to know more about you. This is a community of people with an interest in common, and as such, we all want to get to know you better. You will not be able to edit this area until you reach "Rookie" level.

Links to non-sponsoring businesses and/or advertisements are not allowed in Signatures or Profiles. Listing items for sale in Signatures and/or Profiles is not allowed.

Images are not allowed in Signatures.

Sponsors
We have some excellent Sponsors on this site. Please take a moment and click on the buttons for them and take a look at their websites. We are very selective about who we allow sponsor this site. All sponsors are carefully vetted prior to being allowed to advertise here. We stand behind and support each and every one of them.

Home Page
The Home Page is the entry portal to that site. This is where announcements will live, as well as fun new stuff. Please check in there from time to time to keep up to date.

Search function
One of the best tools of this site is the Search function. It becomes available to you once you reach "Newbie" Level. It is always best to use "More Options". Unfortunately there is a software limitation and "View New Posts" does NOT catch all of the new posts, so you need to browse around to see everything.

Lurkers will NOT have access to the Search function.

Gallery
The gallery is available for viewing to "Newbie" members and above. Posting there requires "Member" level.

Classified Ads
The For Sale ads are Classified Ads only. Responses cannot be made within the thread, and must be sent directly to the Seller via email or PM. Once you reach "Rookie" level you be allowed to post ads.

There are further tutorials and aids in the "968 Forums How to Guide". Please avail yourself of them.

Thank you for joining us. Cruise around. See what's here. We hope you will enjoy this site as much as we have.

See you on the board!
