This looks pretty "done" - but a little surprising that no roll protection was added. If only I was in the position to have a track car...but that's not in the cards right now.

Chance of him getting anywhere near 29K for that is slim. Wouldn't doubt that he has that much put into, but as we all know, you never get that $ back. If I ever put that kind of money into a car I've gotta be sure I'm keeping it for a long time. I just dont have the cash and time to mod and sell at a loss.

That said, wonder if I could arrange a test drive

Interesting, but the description makes it sound more like a 951S in a 968 body. If that's the case, a 2.5L turbo project is not as interesting (but still interesting) as 3.0L turbo project.

you have to wonder why these cars, which require tons of time and effort to build, constantly end up coming up for sale - do they not work 100%? are they not as fast as people think they should be? are they rattling apart? are they impossible to drive?

i would think that a 3000lb car with 400hp, and the handling and superior ride we all know they have, would be competitive against nearly anything out there - why would you let that go?

Given the lack of roll protection, I conclude that it's not used as a serious track car. Couple that with the statement "...this car is not for everyone, very hardcore..." and I further conclude that it's a lousy street car (particularly in Greenwich Village, if that's where the car is kept). So, it's probably an orphan looking for a good home. (As an aside, a little curious that the photos are six years old! I guess nothing much - or maybe a lot - happened in the intervening time.)

From my experiance, most of these cars are not finished projects & many of them have many expensive issues. Based on this response i got from the seller, the Powerhaus built Turbo S replica (which has cooling issues and is selling for less money @ Parr Porsche) seems like a much better buy.


dino, the car is not totaly finished, and still needs some things. But it runs and drives fine. I dont have any better pics, but I do have more. The 993 headlight conversion is not finished, will need new paint, has a crack in the windshield, missing engine undertray and front fenderliners, needs door lock cylinders, needs hatch side trim pieces, and a few other little things are in need of attention. Email me your # and a good time to call and I can anwser any questions specificly.

pretty common tale from all i have seen so far

the only turbos that seem to run "right" are the factory ones - there is likely a very real reason that they only output the power levels they did - it seems that any time you go higher (and it seems that everybody wants and tries to), the car stops running dependably

maybe porsche knew what they were doing?

i would be content with the 350HP the factory Turbo RS's put out in international racing trim.

i think i might be happy with the 305 of the S car - 350 would definitely do it - i was driving mine today, just to give it some exercise, and i'm now quite bored - i ran some times and they are actually quite good, but just not enough at the seat of the pants to make me happy - maybe i went too far with the suspension because i traded acceleration sensation for handling

thinking more and more about building another MGB - i can do a car at 1900lbs with a supercharged 2 liter and make an easy 200hp at the wheels on street gas, complete with AC (which was why i abandoned the car over a decade ago) - i was only outputting 165 before and that thing was a rocket and much more nimble than the 968 - not as comfy on the highway, but a lot more fun to drive in the twisties and on the track

gonna have to do something - not a happy camper here

which is why i imagine that a lot of guys go hunting for turbo kits

Any of you boys from the NE know this car.

It looks like it is trying to serve to many masters. Is it for the street or track? The suspension would rattle your teeth out on the streets and the headlight conversion does not look complete.

My turbo conversion is set for the street and looks like any other 968, unless you look under the hood.

Anyone know what happened to that Powerhaus Turbo from Par, their website seems to be down, I'm guessing they went under and was kind of wondering what happened to that car.
