Has anyone taken a look at the 1994 Red Cabriolet listed on autotrader in the Chicago area? It is at a dealer called Premier Auto Haus. VIN is WP0CA2962RS840618.

Seems like this one falls into the camp of "too good to be true", as I said, curious to know if anyone has called/or looked at this one?

If everything check out, it looks like a good deal. Appears to be a early 94, probably rebadged 93. From a quick look the only things I see wrong are the hinge for the center console is broken and it's missing the door for the glove compartment in the engine bay.

It also is missing the rear engine bay cover (PN 944 504 533 00) that went along with the one at the front (missing the glove compartment door).

It looks like it needs a bit of TLC. If it has a full service history, and you spend $1000 dollars fixing the cosmetic issues, this could be a very nice car.

Hadn't noticed that. One of the rear wheels is a 17" and the others are 16".

Actually, it is a late 94 car. Note the seats. The turnover point is RS840249 and this car is way after that. It is an original 17" wheel car with 220 LSD but someone on another site saw the car and said it was in bad shape when reviewed in person.

"Bad shape" is always relative, but as I am some distance away, and likely will not be in that area until closer to 2nd week of Aug, I was hoping someone here had stopped by and taken a hard look at it, perhaps even driven the vehicle.

The different size/type wheels scare me a bit....tough to think of an explanation that makes any sense for that... "Buy the car, not the story", yet still I am curious about the history of this vehicle.

The "deluxe" vin decoding at www.decodethis.com says 16" wheels installed, front and rear.

The front black plastic "mouth" grille is also missing. Probably an inexpensive fix but it is still missing.

Those "generic" utilities never work right. That's why you visit a model specific site like Forums. That car came with the following options from the factory:

LT - Black partial leather seats
XD4 - Painted crest center caps
220 - Limited slip differential
398 - 17" wheels
437 - Full power driver's seat

It would also have codes:
C02 - US Emissions
231 - change of tire manuafacture (seen with 17" wheel cars)
331 - AM/FM cassette
454 - Cruise control

If you call the dealer they can get the codes for you off the car and you'll see they match the above. They can be found on the vehicle information sticker which is on page 2 of the maintenance manual or stuck to the floor/tail panel under the rear trunk carpet.
