Looking for recommendations as to how I can reach the widest possible audience searching for this very specific second 968 I want.. the trick is reaching that individual(s) that may not have actively thought of selling their "garage queen" just yet, but may definitely consider it learning that someone is intersted in that specific color, model, etc..

I placed a 968 wanted post on CraigsList, that did not produce any replies, I'm thinking about doing the same on eBay but doubt it will be any more successful, not sure there is a way on the 968 Registry ( Jeff, is /will there be
a method ? ) where I can just post a notice as to what I'm interested in buying and see if anyone responds to it,
contacting a car broker that specializes in searches and has broader resources could be an option...

Autotrader ( not sure they have a wanted section huh.gif ) ?

Any other ideas how and where I can advertise ?

Dan,

I searched the .net Hershey Swap Meet archives- one of the attendees one year with a yellow cab had his email linked to his name. Sent an email and the rest is history. I know the Swap Meet participants make up a very small percentage of the general 968 population, but you never know....

If you are a PCA member, place a want ad there.

Also, you might want to try a locator - www.europeanlocators.com is one, not sure if he is still in business or not, but he had a good rep I believe. No affiliation on my end- just word of mouth from some 993 owners.

There are apparently some PC apps that will scour auction sites and for sale sites such as CraigsList and send you alerts when you desired item pops up. You may want to find out about these and set them up to notify you when 968's pop up for sale. I've never used one personally nor do I know where to get one! Big help aren't I?!

Good luck!

Thanks Jim, just tried them - no 968 but I am now the proud husband of four fine Russian brides they located right away tongue.gif Ok, just could not help it, but kidding aside that site actually looks quite promising - certainly not an inexpensive way of doing it but it may be money well spent so I'll look into it if my other search methods turn up zero results in the next month or two.

You might give CARMAX a try. Their advertisements say they can find any car you want nationwide. A couple of the local PCA Region members worked there a few years ago and they were always showing up at events in different Porsche cars. Good luck, Bob Blackwell.
