Good grief !! Maybe that $ 4,500 is the price he’ll pay someone to haul it away .

502 hp! And you could easily convert the hood scoop to a machine gun like on Maxwell Smart’s Sunbeam.
hehehehe

Maybe it's to suck in fuel fumes from the car in front of it to keep it running?
And yet I can't seem to sell mine that's done and just a swell car. I would straight up trade for a Buick Electra 225 if anyone has one..
That would make the wife happy..

I'm shocked you're having so much trouble selling your 968, as it seems to be a great example. Have you tried Bring-a-Trailer? I sold mine there, and got more than I expected. Mine was a semi-dedicated track car, so a different beast, but I would think a nice convertible like yours would be an easy sell.

I have thought about it, but concerned that I won't get enough compared to what I have in it.
I am not interested in someone who really doesn't get what the car is. I would like to to go to someone who will really get it.
Problem is everyone wants one uber cheap, so they can do the work on it rather than pay for one that's basically done.
I would seriously trade straight up for a nice muscle car. My local import mechanic just up and closed his shop and I am not able to work on it myself.
That is part of what is driving me to want/need to sell it.
It's a nice example. Less than 51K on the odo.
I had it posted here several times and watched people buy others' cars without even an email to me.

That's so odd. You would think that after all the people who have joined this forum while they were looking for a 968 to buy would make a ready market for your car. I bet if you put it on BaT with a reasonable reserve, you would have no trouble selling it for a reasonable price. I found they were very good to work with, although as I recall they did try to get me to post mine with no reserve, but I pushed back and they gave in, and I ended up with a sale for more than I was expecting.

Yes I would have thought that too. But no. I have posted it several times and only had one guy say he was interested, but then that just vaporized.
Talked the talk, but he didn't walk the walk.
It's not a hardship sale, but I am looking for something new or put the cash into my rare volvo and drive that.
I can't work on stuff and really don't want to and don't have a mechanic anymore.
If I could swap for a deuce and a quarter that would jazz the wife as her grandmother drove one.
I already know I won't get what I put into it which sort of blows. I can't even get people to stop lowballing me on a $40 item on eBay.

Yeah, there are way too many people who think they can pick up quality stuff for next to nothing. Pretty much scumbag behavior.

I bought mine cheap. Sitting for five years with a blown transaxle.
I did everything to it. Completely reworked it. It cost me big.
I know I am not going to get everything out of it but Hagerty has it insured for $35K.
It have less than 55K on the odometer..Not many with that mileage out there
If someone made me a reasonable offer, I would probably take it.

It sounds like a great example. I'm completely floored that you haven't been able to sell it, given how many people are looking for 968's, often for months, if not years, relative to the number available.

Cloud where or how have you determined “all the people looking for 968’s?
Posted 22 December 2025 - 05:08 PM
I was actually referring to the number of people looking for one, relative to the number available at any given time. Both are very small numbers, but the former seems to always be larger than the latter, judging by the number of people who have joined this forum while in the process of searching for one. They always sound so exasperated, as though they were searching for gold nuggets in the outskirts of their towns, or magic truffles or something. So I would think a nice example like Inked's should have been scooped up ages ago. Very weird.

I’ve had my ‘93 Cab for sale for several months. A couple of guys showed what I thought was real interest, but the only offer I’ve received was for $15K which I think is a bit low.

I had a couple of people look, over the net, but to no avail. Everything wants to buy cheap.
Posted 23 December 2025 - 06:01 AM
I am also surprised that people come here say they are looking and even when I had mine listed, they didn't contact me or show any interest and then post they found one,
often with significant work to be done to it.
I am not in a hardship position, my kids will keep it or sell it off If I am not around. But I would like to see it enjoyed and loved.
I just am looking for something different but not willing to lose my shirt on it...
It is what it is. I have NEVER made money or broke even on a car. It just doesn't happen for me. I always seem to come up short.
