BaT Exclusive: 1993 Porsche 968 6-Speed Coupe
This 1993 Porsche 968 Coupe (chassis WPOAA2961PS820655) is a very clean manual transmission example in factory Midnight Blue Metallic with medium grey leather interior, a very nice combination. The seller has $5k in receipts from the last two months and says that the car has never been in an accident and has a clean CarFax. The seller bought the car from Bob Kovacs who chronicled his ownership and upgrades to the car in seven issues of Excellence Magazine, which the seller offers with the sale. The car is offered as a great driver with lots of recent sorting and refreshing, but with some oil leaks and curb rash on the pretty 17″ Cup wheels. It is now available in Denver, Colorado for $14,500.

Funny, I was just logging on to share this same posting, and I watched it pop up. I have seen so many interesting 968's for sale, so why would BAT put this one on? Pretty basic car with a lot of miles for $14,500, in my opinion. I own this same color combo, so nothing unique there.

i'm not surprised it's for sale again. i'm sure it needed a lot of work when the current owner got it.
that car has had a history of problems, many of which were largely ignored. i can't count the number of times i would read long descriptions of problems that went untreated for months at a time. also there seemed to be a general unwillingness to spend money on the car or do things right, and a tendency to find back yard mechanic solutions to things. it really seemed like only the bare essentials of maintenance were done. i could be wrong, and there could have been a lot going on in the background, but a look at the engine picture tells me i think i'm right.
at that price, it would need to have had new variocam pads and chain, new belts, rollers, and waterpump just done, and have no signs of rubber deterioration.
with $5k in new receipts, if they aren't all body and paint, it's possible this car has been brought back up to snuff. worth a look. the colors are cool.

Why is it listed on BAT? It runs and drives doesn't it? I digress.......

I'd want to see more receipts than that for that price...clutch work, chain and pads as flash notes, rod bearings/pick up tube....
