Don,
I just called the Hilton Garden Inn, they are sold out. Receptionist suggested either the Holiday Inn Express or the Hershey Lodge, which would be the best choice?

Just received another newsletter from Jeff (PCA 968 Register Advocate) in which he indicates that no group dinner is planned.

A few 968 owners have indicated that it would be nice to "break bread" before meeting at the Hilton Garden Inn (550 E Main St, Hummelstown, PA 717-566-9292) and I am willing to arrange a sit down dinner at a nearby Restaurant. It will be totally INFORMAL with no speeches or presentations. Order off the menu, pay with cash, mastercard or visa and have lots of 968 talk while gazing down on our 968s parked below the Veranda. I will bring my 968 Coupe, my 968 Library and all of my models for viewing. Feel free to bring your 968 stuff to share with the others. Veranda is covered in case of a sprinkle.

Anyone going to dinner should meet in the Hilton Garden Inn parking lot at 5:15pm Friday, April 22.

Please confirm your intention to attend at dhassenbein@comcast.net and I will then forward you additional info on the Restaurant, including a 10 percent discount on your meal.

Veranda has 10 tables of 4 chairs each so maximum seating is 40 people.

We will plan on returning to the Hilton Garden Inn by 7pm to join those 968'ers who will be there.

Richard,

Hotel rooms during the Swap Meet are hard to come by.

The Hershey Lodge is always a good choice. The Holiday Inn Express (a little further away in Lebanon) opened in 2009 and is nice. Other option is the Holiday Inn Hershey (717-469-1554) which I used as our 968 Hotel in the past (you and Doreen have stayed there). 3 good choices but don't wait too long.

Hope this helps.

Don

So far we have the following who would like to meet at the Hilton Garden Inn this coming Friday, 5:15 pm April 22 for the Group Dinner in Hershey.

- Ramius & Wife
- Cosimo & 2 guests
- Red Baron & Frau
- Steve N

If there is anyone else out there who will be in Hershey, PA this coming Friday night for the Porsche Swap Meet and wants to participate in a group dinner, let me know at dhassenbein@comcast.net asap so I can give the restaurant a final count. Having done 8 years of 968 events, I know it is fashionable to wait until the last minute but would appreciate a heads-up. Thanks.

Red Baron

p.s. Richard and Doreen, would you able to find a room?

Hi Folks,

Newbie needs help.

I’d like to attend either Newtown or Hershey. Which would be the better car-trading venue?

I’m looking for a nice 968 cab, and I have to sell my near-perfect black/tan 944 cab. The only thing wrong with this car is that I can’t hang Flash’s SC on it. Hence the car swapping.

Many thanks for any input,

Paul

Hershey for selling, but it's not a guaranteed sell unless you are giving a smoking good price.

Yep, the rain monster is threatening us again. Last year we had good weather Saturday but not Sunday. For those brave souls still coming in Saturday, look me up in the Concours area, I and my garage queen 968 will be parking cars there, rain or shine!

Weather on Friday supposed to be better, so those 968'ers meeting at the Hilton Garden Inn at 5:15 pm, the group dinner is still with return to Hotel for Jeff's Cruise Night at 7pm.

Update on Hershey Swap Meet:

- we had 5 968s and 1 944 Turbo attend the Group Dinner at local restaurant. I found out that my garage queen will not melt in the rain - good to know - lol! Aaron really enjoyed going thru the 968 Library.
- met Jeff and his son Greg (hard to believe he is now a Freshman in College and lives in NYC and is taller than Jeff) met us at the Hilton, we decided to just park the cars and reminisce about previous 968 events, check out the 968 memorabilia and get caught up with everyone's lives. It really is about the people, not just the cars!

Yes, the cars got wet but we had a blast and look forward to seeing each other at the Swap Meet Concours area.

Anybody within driving distance who is contemplating attending the Swap Meet, we will keep a spot open for you!

Not sure how many total 968s were at the Swap Meet but we had 5 Cabs, 1 Coupe, 2 944s and 1 944 Turbo in our row of the Concours. Light rain up until 10 am and then no rain with sun coming out in the afternoon. Jeff won lst place in 924/928/944/968 Category and Aaron won 3rd place - photos attached. Lots of fun and it was great to see old friends and make new ones. Lots of Porschephiles stopped by to check out the 968s and Aaron and Minta's 951,

What a wonderful time! And the weather today was PERFECT for a ~3 hour drive home. We took a few pictures that I thought would be fun to post:

Hope we can do this again next year! Now if the stars align our schedule will free-up for Newtown!

It was one of the worst Sawp Meets of the 11 I've been to (cold and rainy). That being said it was great seeeing old friends and meeting new ones (Aaron and Minta) and there cars. Don and Elke were gracious hosts as usual and his collection of 968 memorabilia is an envy of all 968ers, especially the crystal 968. Sorry I'm going to miss the New Hope event but I hope to have some great pictures of the 968 at the Porsche Museum. I had a right rear tire lose some air. Refilled it and drove to DC without any problems.I met another adventura green coupe from Canada parked next to me and we exchanged admiration for our cars. IMA had a good day as we sold some parts that were in the shop.

Whoever took a pic of my car thanks looks great! This was my first swap meet and although the weather certainly was a diminishing factor it was still pretty neat.
